It is used to repair damaged drywall, cover old textures (like popcorn), or hide damage from wallpaper removal to achieve a flawless, paint-ready surface.  Drywall surfaces, plaster walls, and ceilings (especially after removing popcorn texture) are commonly used for Skim Coating.

Key Aspects of the Process

• Surface Preparation: Clean the wall surface (remove dust, oil, and loose particles). Wet the surface with water to prevent moisture loss from the plaster.
• Application of Plaster: Apply Base Coat Use a trowel to apply the plaster mortar to the wall. Thickness: Usually 12-20 mm. Leveling a straight edge or screed to level the surface. Curing: Keep the plastered wall moist for 7 days to prevent cracks.
• Surface Preparation for Skim Coat: Let the plaster cure completely (at least 7 days). Clean the surface and repair any cracks or imperfections. Apply a bonding agent if required (especially on smooth surfaces).
